2007 Suffolk County Celiacs Board Members and Volunteers for the Vendor Fair
2nd Annual Gluten Free Vendor Fair
The 2nd Annual Gluten Free Vendor Fair was held at Farmingdale State College on April 29, 2007 was again a tremendous success. We had approximately 1,500 people attend to shop and browse amongst 60 gluten-free vendors.
In addition, a handful of people were lucky enough to attend a presentation given by Dr. Peter Green, Director of the Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University. A portion of the proceeds from the Fair was donated to the Center.
The Suffolk County Celiac Group is a branch of the Gluten Intolerance Group and a donation was also made to them.
Here are some comments from people who attended the Fair:
“I heard about the Vendor Fair through your email list, and was looking so forward to attending this year with my 11 year old son, who has Celiac. We were unable to go last year, but have had it on our calendar for months this year. We were overwhelmed! It's the first time in 3 years that he has been able to go to any public event and eat every single food product! Actually, he didn't try everything; he's not that big, but he sampled a wide variety and we bought several items and took home flyers for even more."
"I just want to say Thank You to you and your group for the fabulous job. He's the only person in our family of 6 with the disease. He walked into the room and said "Mom, a room full of people just like me". It was just great-and delicious! Thank you again for all the effort you put into the event-it was much appreciated.”
“I thought it was wonderful! I went to the Fair last year and although it was still crowded, the space was much better. I was able to try several products that I have thought about ordering or buying but hesitated. Much to my delight, most of the products I tried were excellent and will be getting my repeat business.”
“I went to the Fair and I am so very glad that I did! I think it was wonderful, informative, helpful and exciting to be participating in something so positive for everyone affected by CD.
The Suffolk County Celiacs are to be commended for such a wonderful event. The Seashore Celiacs piled into 3 cars and headed to LI knowing this would be a great gathering. We attended the lecture, the cooking discussion, ate too much and went home content.”
“You run a first-class operation! I was so impressed with your set up, turnout and general upbeat feeling that prevailed.”
“One of the best organized events I’ve ever been to. Loads of vendors and samples to try and buy. Can’t wait for the next one.”
